Painting Tips

Quicklinks: Home > Painting Tips

  1. Move all furniture to the centre of the room, covering it and the floor. Check out our range of temporary protection products on the accessories page.

  2. Ensure the walls to be painted are clean and dry

  3. If you are planning to paint onto newly applied plasterwork, you will need to 'seal the wall' with a 50:50 mix of emulsion and water before applying the first coat of your colour choice. We would recommend using a trade paint mixed with water as the wall may absorb quite a lot of paint.

  4. Begin by masking off any skirting boards or door frames using masking tape. Paint the edges between the wall and skirting, coving, and door/window frames using a small paintbrush.

  5. Complete the wall by painting the body of the wall using a roller, pad or large paintbrush

  6. Spread paint out thinly and evenly

  7. Leave to dry thoroughly before applying further coats.

  8. Take your time, don't rush and enjoy
